| A new design for power glider ! |
|
An aircraft with winggrid :
- has the same lift to drag ratio with half the wing span.
- requires 10% to 50% less power.
- has a very high resistance to tip stall.
- exhibits below cut-off speed a L/D near or even lower than the wing without winggrid
(elliptic approximation).
- exhibits rectangular span load, that means that Cl-max is equal Cl-average and that total
lift at a given Cl-max is 127% compared to the wing with elliptic span load.
Actual span is increased slightly effective span is increased considerably. This design is currently being
evaluated and the goal is to meet requirements to operate as a motor glider. This MOTOR GLIDER version flew
for the first time on October the 5th of 2000. |
